Saturday Showdown- Superboy v Batman Beyond

On my path to Dawn of Justice, every theory Thursday and Saturday Showdown will be leading up to the movie. Seeing as this is the last Saturday before the release of the movie, the next match-up will be:

Batman (beyond) v. Superboy

Batman Beyond

Alias: Terry McGuinness

Base of Operations: New Gotham City

Arsenal: a full array of bat gear, from the future! Rocket boots to simulate flight, a limited cloaking mechanism, computer interface AI but the most useful part of his arsenal is probably Bruce Wayne, feeding him info any time he is needed.

Bio: after being jumped by a team of Jokers, Bruce Wayne saved Terry, then collapsed from exhaustion. Terry took Bruce back to Wayne Manor and discovered the Batcave. Terry was forcibly kicked out, only to find that his father had been killed by jokers while terry was at Bruce’s place. After uncovering clues to who killed his father, Terry stole a bat costume to trace down the killer. Bruce now aids terry in their fight to clean up the city and rid it of the corrupt business owners who run it.

Superboy

Alias: Superboy, Con-El, Connor Kent

Base of operations: Justice League tower, Smallville Kansas, Metropolis

Arsenal: while not as strong as Superman, Superboy does come loaded to the teeth with Superpowers, including super speed, Strength, and UV vision. His most defining power is his tactile and short range telekinesis, which he uses to simulate Superman’s Powers and to interact with much of the world around him.

Bio: A clone version of Superman. Superboy was created to become a living weapon to take down Superman, should he become bad, and to replace him if that happened. Kryptonian DNA was hard to clone so CADMUS didn’t clone him correctly, leading to differences in his superpowers, most notably Superboy’s TK. After breaking out of CADMUS when Superman died, Superboy learned what it truly meant to be a hero and has since become good friends with Superman, who gave Superboy the name Kon-El, and eventually Connor Kent- posing as a cousin to Clark.

The Battle:

Terry flew over the Gotham skyline. He just came back from the docks where he uncovered a clue leading to how he can take down Powers of Wayne-powers industries. Bruce was handing him another one.

“Your entrance into the area was sloppy, your fighting was lacking, and you talk way too much.” Complained Bruce over the com system

“I aim to please” quipped terry. He had known Bruce for a long time. Terry knew how to crawl under his skin. Mostly jokes. Terry didn’t know why, but Bruce hated sarcasm and jokes like no one he has ever met. That’s when something caught terry’s eye on his HUD.

“Bruce, I’m getting something on police band across town. There’s a robbery taking place at the tech institute. I’m heading there now.

“The police can handle it. You need to get back and rest”.

“Sorry Bruce, but going back to my room is no the thing I want to do right now”. Terry turns the Batmobile around and flies off to the scene.

Meanwhile, Superboy heard a burglar alarm across the city. Superboy leaped, making giant strides of up to a quarter mile at a time. When Superboy was about a mile out, he saw a dark figure fly past the building. A man in a suit dropped out of the plane and landed on the roof. Superboy was sure that guy was up to no good…

“Bruce, the plane won’t stop…” said terry over com.

“I have taken manual control. The police can handle this one. Come back now”. Commanded Bruce.

“I don’t think so. This needs to be done”. Terry then jumps out of the Batmobile onto the roof of the institute. A couple Batarangs later and the thieves were apprehended rather easily.

“See Bruce. I can handle it.” Terry picks up the bags of tech that the people stole.

“Terry get out of there”. Said Bruce, calmly.

“I know, I know, I’ll leave in just a second”.

“Leave. NOW”. Shouted Bruce. That’s when the building started to rumble. Terry turned around to see a kid in jeans and a T-shirt land just behind him.

“Oh. Hello. Just decided to drop in?” quipped Terry

“Terry, don’t provoke him. I’ve seen that kid before, he’s- -“Terry cut off the Com

“Huh, so, Superman shirt? I remember when that was cool to wear. Like, 5^th grade.”

“Drop the tech batman. I’ll take it from here.” Said Superboy, obviously hiding a small amount of rage over the t-shirt comment.

“I don’t think so. This is a victory for team batman. Now why don’t you get a kitten out of a tree or something you Super-dopes do in your spare time”.

Superboy grabbed Terry’s shoulder. “I’d really appreciate if you would stop”.

“Or what? You’ll beat me up or something? Like you even could get close to that”. Superboy then threw Batman by the shoulder. Terry activated the rocket boots in his suit.

“I heard you weren’t ever as good as the original model. Tell me, can you fly?” Terry charged at Superboy, grabbing him and pulling him up in the air. Terry then dropped the Boy of Steel, sending him to the ground.

“You will” finished Terry.

Superboy maneuvered his trajectory to hit a building. Superboy then wall jumped back at Terry. Terry maneuvered out of the way rather easily.

“Yeah, I own the sky’s now Supes. Nowhere for you to get me now.” Terry then did a couple of areal flips to show off his maneuverability. Then he was hit by an air-conditioning unit.
“You still have nothing on me!” shouted Superboy. As Superboy was grabbing another item to throw, terry charged at him with rocket boots again, ready to drop the Superboy off the pier.

“I don’t think we need to do this again. Said Superboy. Superboy then placed his hand on the bat symbol on Terry’s chest. Electric pulses shocked terry and turned off the boots.

“I just shorted out your suit. What I lack in flight, I more than make up for in TK”. Said Superboy, Smugly.

The two figures fell down towards the pier. Superboy landed on his feet with a loud thud, breaking the holoboard beneath his feet, but since holoboards are just that, light made solid, the cracks repaired themselves almost immediately. Terry hit the ground on his back. The suit read 50% power remaining.

Terry stood up and was met with a super-punch in the face.

“I can’t beat him like this” thought terry. “Think. What would Bruce do now?”

The punches kept coming, only Terry’s suit kept him from getting knocked unconscious, yet each blow brought terry closer to the water, not the place for a damaged tech suit to go. Terry got an idea. He opened a canister of tear gas, Superboy was knocked backwards.

“Even <gasp> a Superboy has to breath” said terry. His breath short from the barrage of punches.

Superboy was blinded by the tear gas. He felt re-enforced punches and kicks pushing Superboy down to the ground off the pier.
“Finally. Falling into that river would not have been shway” thought Terry. One more punch brought Superboy to the ground. Terry started to walk away.

“Bruce is going to have my hide for what I did to the suit” muttered Terry.

“You’re right” said Superboy. That’s when the ground opened up beneath terry, sending concrete and debris into terry, finally wearing down the power in Terry’s suit and knocking him unconscious.

Superboy looked up at terry. His hands on the ground and his eyes blood-shot from the gas. “Like I said. What I lack in traditional powers, I more than make up for in TK.

Winner: Superboy
