Doctor Strange V. Constantine
Part 2
“Dormammu! I have come to bargain!”
By this time Constantine had seen the man die at the hands
of Dormammu about a dozen times. This makes it the thirteenth. Several meteors
crashed into the site that Doctor Strange was standing. The crater filled itself
in and Doctor Strange flew back into the same spot he’s been traveling to for
the past 30 minutes
“Dormammu! I have come…”
“Yeah yeah, hold that thought. I promise you no one here is
going to forget what you’ve just said.” Interrupted Constantine. Dormammu and
Strange both looked at this peculiar young man who walked into their presence.
“What is this? Who are you?” shouted Dormammu.
“Well, frankly that isn’t important, nor is it very interesting.
I heard of a disturbance out here in Hong Kong. You aren’t terribly smart to
attack this particular planet, but then again, you aren’t the important one
here either…” Constantine turn to face Doctor Strange. “Now you! You are a very
interesting subject. Who are you? Where are you from? Where’d you learn to use
the eye of agimoto?”
“Doctor Stephen Strange, Manhattan, lots of study, where did
you hear of the eye of agimoto?”
“I make it my business to know about little trinkets like
that pretty necklace you’ve got there. Now just hand it to me and no one will get
hurt and I will be on my way”
“I don’t think so”
Doctor strange placed his hands in the air and from thin air
came runes that created plasma discs. Strange took a defensive position.
“I was right. You are indeed the most interesting of us
here.” Constantine reached into his bag and pulled out a sword. He swung the
sword at strange who barely blocked the sword with the rune. Upon impact the rune
exploded into thousands of sparks that flew off into the void of the dark
dimension.
“I took this sword from some monk in the Himalayas. Called himself
the head of the demon. You won’t believe the talking I had to do to get him to
give me this thing.”
Strange began to levitate and threw more runes in the
direction of Constantine. Constantine would break another rune with each swipe
then summoned his own runes to combat. The deep designs surrounding Constantine’s
hands were clean as opposed to Strange’s crackling magic. Strange knew it was
time for a desperate attempt. A large beam of the yellow energy that strange
conjured shot from his hands towards Constantine. After several seconds the
barrage stopped and the smoke cleared, revealing Constantine standing calmly
lighting a cigarette.
“How did you do that?”
“Ah, nothing to complicated, while you were busy trying to conjure
magic that is well beyond you I simply put a protection rune on the ground in
front of me. Constantine shot his hands forward and pushed strange behind a
mountain, but not before the doctors cloak latched itself onto Constantine’s
foot. The two flew out into the horizon.
Dormammu stared anxiously into the horizon. Soon a figure
appeared from over the mountain.
“Dormammu! I’ve come to bargain!
Epilogue:
Constantine walked into his cabin in the woods. All of the
trinkets from his many adventures lined the walls. He replaced the sword and
the zombie hand as well as adding a jar of dirt from the dark dimension on the
shelf next to the helmet of fate. After flying over the mountain, Doctor
Strange explained the situation at hand. Constantine still felt uncomfortable
letting someone like that walk around with basically little supervision, but he’d
be watching.
Winner: Constantine
Explanation
while the Doctor Strange we see in the movie is powerful, he still has very little experience with his power and even then we only see him do a few things in the movie, mostly time manipulation. With the setting of the battle however, time manipulation was something he could not afford to do. Constantine on the other hand has had a gift for magic since he was an infant and has worked and practiced his magic abilities since he was a young man, first dabbling in it in high school/ early college. This also allows Constantine to have a much wider scope of magic abilities and use by this time including a bag full of gimmicks from his past activities.
