Star Wars: The Power of Sand- a Fan Fiction

For this theory Thursday, I present to you a short fan fiction.
We know how Anakin Skywalker feels about sand, and how much he hates it. After careful consideration and with input from some close friends, I have determined that the entire Star Wars franchise hinged on whether or not Anakin Skywalker liked sand. So without further ado….

Power of Sand introduction

Padme started to feel uncomfortable with her current situation. Not only was she missing out on important votes at the senate, she had to spend the last several days essentially on home arrest with, of all Jedi to pick from, Anakin Skywalker. She hasn’t spoken to him in a long time, but already she could begin to feel something for him. Was it love? Disgust? Your average headache? There was something alluring about him that almost superseded all of his complaining and whining.

Now, here she is. Standing on the balcony of the palace overlooking the beautiful lakes and beaches that Naboo had to offer with Anakin Skywalker standing next to her.

“I used to love going to the lake. I loved the gentle waves, the sound of the lapping water and the feel of the sandy beach between my toes…”

Padme felt a slight jolt of sadness. Those carefree days of youth seemed so far away.
"I like sand. I love how it feels between my toes, all the
different colors of it, and during sunrises, the light catches the
sand just right to where it sparkles like an endless sea of gold...

“I like sand,” said the Jedi next to her. She was kind of shocked to hear those words from his mouth, given his upbringing on a desert planet.

“I love how it feels between my toes, the different colors of it, and during sunrises, the light catches the sand just right to where it sparkles like an endless sea of gold, kind of like you Padme.”

Padme was struck. This was the sweetest thing he has said. A smile drew across Anakin’s face and he looked at Padme with a sparkle in his eye.

“Let’s go to the beach!” Anakin stepped over the railing and hopped down to the ground.

“Anakin! Where are you going?” shouted Padme from the balcony.

“I told you! Picnic at the beach? It’ll be great!” shouted Anakin, obscured by the thick growth under the palace balcony. Padme stood in obvious confusion and even more so when she felt herself levitating and being slowly lowered down to the ground next to Anakin.

“Well, this could be fun…” thought Padme as she and Anakin snuck out of the palace and towards the sandy beach.

"I'm just a little worried about my mom. I love my mom.
I miss her. I'm sure it will be ok though."
Padme found Anakin early the next morning looking out over the balcony to the sandy beach.
“What’s wrong Anni?” inquired Anakin. He looked at her and smiled sadly.

“I like looking at the beach. The sand reminds me of home.” Anakin’s head lowered in sadness. “I’ve been having nightmares. In them, my mother is dying.”

Padme looked at Anakin. He was so sensitive and simple. He loved his mother and he missed his home, and he loved her.

“Well, let’s go to her” said Padme. Anakin’s smile warmed her heart. The two lovers took the royal Naboo star cruiser and made their way to Tatooine.

Anakin and Padme met with the Lars family who explained that Anakin’s mother was taken by the Sand-People. Anakin felt a type of rage and went out on his own to save her. Anakin did eventually find her, but she was on her last legs.

Anakin stepped outside of the hut holding his weakening mother in his arms.

“Eeeewrrooog ruun guunn guunn!” shouted Anakin. The Sand people immediately came to his aid and began to bandage his mother up. Growing up in Tatooine, Anakin wanted to learn everything he could about sand, and that includes the Sand-People and their language.

"I like them. And not just the other guys, but the women and children
are pretty great too. They're all pretty cool people, so we chilled like
really cool people."
After several hours, Shmi came to. Before Anakin and his mother left, a young Sand-Person tugged at Anakin’s cloak. The child led Anakin to a large circle with the Sand-People elders presiding. An old woman walked towards Anakin with a bowl of blue paint and applied sacred markings on his forehead. Anakin and his mother were welcomed as new members of the tribe.

Anakin’s new friends fixed them up with fresh water, food, and supplies for their journey back to the Lars Farm. When Anakin returned there was much rejoicing and many happy feelings. Anakin promised that when the time was right he would take his mother and the Lars family to Coruscant where they would never have to worry again and Anakin’s new step dad could get the finest medical care available for his amputated leg.

Fast forward.

Obi-Wan, Anakin, and Padme loaded onto a troop carrier in pursuit of Count Dooku. A shot hit the side of the ship, rocking it slightly and sending Padme down into the sand dunes below.
“Padme!” shouted Anakin. He turned to his master “I’m going to go after her!”

“No Anakin!” shouted Obi-Wan. “We need to capture the count and bring him in for questioning.”
Anakin looked out into the desert and saw Padme rolling in the sand. “It can’t be that bad” he thought to himself. “Sand is nice and soft. She should be able to get out of this pretty well.”

Because Anakin was no longer stressed out over Padme’s safety, he didn’t rush out against Count Dooku. With the timely assistance of Yoda, Obi-Wan and Anakin were able to take the count in alive for trial. Dooku gave the plans for the death star to the Jedi and was placed in Jedi prison. Count Dooku was released on good behavior and was re-instated into the Jedi order as a Palawan under the tutelage of Mace Windu, who taught the count how to use his dark side abilities for good.

Due to the loss of his padawan, Darth Sidious had to very carefully consider his plans. Would they even work now? Chancellor Palpatine made an announcement the next day in the senate.

“I am grateful for the trust that the senate has placed in me” began Palpatine, “but I am afraid I cannot take control of this war any longer. I would like to nominate Senator Padme Amidala as my successor, effective immediately”. The vote was unanimous. Palpatine then left to the Jedi council to confess his crimes. He willingly surrendered with the request that his punishment be to work with the infants to make sure they had a start to life that he never had. The council agreed as long as Yoda supervised him directly and Palpatine had to receive regular injections of venom from the Ysalamir lizard to negate his force powers (it's a legends thing. Ysalamir lizards negate force powers. that's all you need to know).
Studying for the new job!

Anakin confessed his love and marriage to Padme. The council was beginning to get overwhelmed with all of the secrets they didn’t know about but agreed that Anakin should have a leave from regular duties to focus on his family, after all, Master Ki Adu Mundi had a family. Anakin and Padme gave birth to a set of twins who were trained by their uncle Obi-Wan Kenobi in the ways of the force and his children grew under the watchful care of himself; His wife Padme; and his adopted family the Lars as well as Shmi Skywalker, who was happier than ever to be a grandmother.

The Jedi Council evaluated their teachings and found that they allowed too much fear to enter into the doctrine. The Jedi then started teaching all aspects of the force and allowed all the information in the Jedi Archive to reach the public, bolstering the education of the people.

Back on Tatooine, Jabba the Hut realized that his people have not encountered any attacks from the Sand people. After inquiring why, Jabba learned that the Sand-People have devoted themselves to peace after meeting one of the Jedi who cared so much about their interest in sand. Jabba, after careful consideration, decides that if the Sand-People can change their evil natures, he could change his too. Jabba starts an intensive weight loss program and loses about 2000 pounds and 4 feet off his waist line. Jabba then runs for election and becomes the senator of Tatooine for the republic. After freeing all the slaves, Jabba then introduces a new bill to the senate to add more checks and balances to the chancellor and the senate to make sure no one can rise to supreme power ever again. The bill is voted into law within the first 10 minutes of its introduction. This bill was so revolutionary that it made all of the separatist planets come back and they were welcomed with open arms.

Since the war was over, All the Clones were given a new lease on life. Each was given a small monetary compensation and a job to expand the republic and make wheelchair accessible ramps on public buildings. Boba Fett found a lack of jobs in the galaxy and pursued his passion in poetry.

Han Solo eventually met a beautiful woman named Bria Tharen. Now he and his good friend Lando Calrissian run a very successful shipping company dealing in legal goods. They gain a multi-bajillion credit deal with the republic and live the rest of their lives never having to worry about having insufficient funds and the possibility of having to give rides to strangers to make ends meet.

Peace filled the galaxy forever more. No war was fought, no lives were ruined.

And that is the power of sand.

The End.
